Thought(s) of the Day, June 26th, 2013

One thing no one will ever explain to me is the reason that old people decide to shop in crowded supermarkets on Saturdays.

They have every other day of the week to shop.

But time and time again, I see retirees on line with youth scrambling to get things done on a Saturday, the one day of the week when France is open for working people.

Do they enjoy looking at us? Do they like the lines? Are they looking for company?

Why sir, are you not taking advantage of all your extra time in retirement to choose a weekday to stock up?

Are you doing it on purpose? Admit it. It's just no fun buying frozen broccoli in a deserted supermarket in mid afternoon on a Tuesday.

Shop alone and you feel close to death. Shop with a crowd and feel alive! Really alive!
